Increasingly I am asked to perform name-giving ceremonies for parents who want to make their family and friends a part of their baby’s first significant celebration. Sometimes it’s a very quiet affair with just the nearest and dearest present and sometimes it’s quite a party!
A name-giving ceremony isn’t only for babies, it is also an opportunity to celebrate an older child who hasn’t previously had a ceremony or to introduce an adopted child or a stepchild into your family.
No matter the age of your child, a name-giving ceremony is a time to welcome and celebrate the new member of your family and a time for parents to state their commitment to the welfare of her or him. |
